Biharis celebrate Chhath in UK and USA
Huge number of devotees turned up at the Ganga Ghats in Patna for the evening arghaya during the ongoing Chhath festival today. The local authorities had ensured proper arrangements at the ghats like past years but the overall participation was subdued due to covid fears. A large number of people preferred to do the prayers from their own residence terraces and other locations in Patna. Meanwhile we have received pictures from UK and USA from the Bihari community who are also celebrating the festival with full enthusiasm. Normally close friends and relatives gather together to celebrate and pray together but this year fewer people could visit each other. In UK the community got together on Zoom platform to meet and greet each other.
In Chicago Neelam Dwivedi Singh, Divya Verma, Sangita Singh, Rashmi Ranjan and Rinku Choudhary are actively involved in the festivities. Kalawati Mishra from Patna whose husband is a medical practitioner in Dewsbury in UK has been doing Chhath for the last 20 years.Dr A. K. Sharma and his wife Sushma Sharma who have been in UK from 1973 also got together with their friends to celebrate the festival.
